Double Chocolate Brownie

Posted by

Brownies have an American origin I read. American food is Rich.Buttery.Laden. Oh not that Laden, just plain laden. Laden laden, Hope you got it?I love to bake. But my sister excels in it. Me loves basic baking.Or Basics of baking? No! Just basic baking. Confusing Monday must be! My sister is adventurous and very experimental when it comes to baking as well as cooking. I envy her for that. These are rich, fudgy and has a cracked crust like brownies should, well, ideally! I adapted the recipe from JOB. Now, to the recipe

Brownies

Must haves : Cooking chocolate, Sugar, Flour, Butter

Source : Adapted from Here

Makes : 16

Butter : 113 gms

Chocolate buttons/Cooking Chocolate : 135 gms (I used milk chocolate)

Sugar : 130 gms

Dark Brown sugar : 30 gms

Flour : 95 gms

Eggs : 2

Vanilla extract : 1 tsp

Cocoa : 2 Tbsp (Dutch processed)

Salt : 1/4 tsp

Chocolate chips : 100 gms (Dark Chocolate Chips)

Preheat oven to 180 C.

Grease a 23 cm square pan

Melt butter and chocolate over a bain marie. In simple terms over a water bath – Heat water to a boil, place a larger bowl with the butter and chocolate. Make sure the larger boil doesn’t touch the water underneath. The trapped steam should melt the chocolate.

Once the chocolate is melted, add the sugars and the cocoa powder. Using a whisk, mix well. The heat/warmth should melt the sugar completely

Once well mixed, add the eggs one at a time beating in between each addition

Add the vanilla extract and the salt

Finally add the flour. Mix.

Pour into a baking tray, buttered and lined with parchment.

Bake for about 23-25 mins. After the 22nd minute keep an eye on the brownie

Check with toothpick to ensure there are a few crumbs sticking. There should be few crumbs sticking to the toothpick.Do not over bake

Cut once it cools down and serve.

NOTES :

Take care not to over bake the bownie. It will turn hard.
